Buddies In Business

Buddies in Business Passport to Success was founded over 16 years ago by Detroit City Council Member Alberta Tinsley-Talabi. The program introduces youth (ages 14 -17) throughout the City of Detroit to entrepreneurship skills, financial literacy, drug awareness, management skills, and business etiquette.

During the six-week (6) summer program, participants learn the value and significance of a business plan and are educated by business professionals on how to prepare a business plan worthy of financial consideration. This year, the program held all its sessions at a Wayne County Community College at Conner and Fort street Campuses, Eastern Michigan University, and Northwest Activities Center. To measure its growth, the program started with 12 participants. In 2011 a total of 300 youth enrolled in the program. The City of Detroit Career Works partnered with Mack Alive. Plans are in the work for the program to expand to Wayne State University and Marygrove College.
